SIA calls on WIGBAR to turn her blond bob into concept art for “1000 Forms of Fear”
Pop mega star SIA calls on WIGBAR for a unique marketing and branding strategy launching in tandem with her sixth studio album “1000 Forms of Fear”. In a bold move to remain anonymous, the notoriously press shy pop artist brought the unique concept to Wigbar’s designer team to mass produce her signature blond bob in order to allow her to be present and absent at the same time.
“I don't want to be famous. If Amy Winehouse was a beehive then I guess I’m a blonde bob. I thought 'well if that's my brand, how can I avoid having to use my face to sell something', so my intention was to create a blonde bob brand. Throughout this whole thing I'll put a different person in a blonde bob and either they lip-synch while I'm doing a live performance or they perform a dance or do some sort of performance while I have my back to the audience, as with Ellen. I recently recorded a bunch of stuff for VH1 where a 78-year-old woman wears the blonde bob and is lip-synching on a treadmill. Then there's a black boy that Ryan choreographed a dance for, who's not a dancer, and he's in the blonde bob. Basically I plan to put different people in blonde bobs because the concept now is to create visual art.”
An astonishingly prolific hit maker and songwriter, Sia has penned several monster hits over the last few years. In 2013 alone, she’s crafted songs for pop icons including Rihanna (“Diamonds”), Katy Perry (“Double Rainbow”), Britney Spears (“Perfume”), Beyoncé (“Pretty Hurts”) and Celine Dion, as well as working with Diplo, The Weeknd, Kylie Minogue, Angel Haze, and executive producing label mate Brooke Candy’s forthcoming album.
Sia is also the featured vocalist on some of the most massive hits she has written for others including “Titanium” with David Guetta, “Beautiful Pain” with Eminem, and “Wild Ones” with Flo Rida. Her most recent release is her hit single “Elastic Heart” from “The Hunger Games Soundtrack” written by Sia featuring The Weeknd and Diplo.
Recently adding to the album’s upcoming launch, her #siaselfie campaign gives fans the opportunity to upload their own photo and have their face within Sia’s iconic blonde bob. With both fans and celebrities alike channeling their inner Sia. Visit http://www.siaselfie.com.
Commenting on her recent VH1 appearance, “Oh my god, yes please. Seriously it's so fun. We had a hundred people in them in the audience for the VH1 thing I just shot.”...referencing the audience of blonde bobs.
Sia performed "Chandelier" on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on 19 May 2014, with Maddie Ziegler of “Dance Moms” recreating the choreography following the runaway success of the music video. During and after the performance, Sia refused to face the camera.
On June 9th, Lena Dunham appeared in the blond bob while doing a parody of interpretive dance as Sia sang facing away from the audience.
Wigbar’s recreation of her iconic blond bob has now successfully come to represent Sia’s “1000 Forms of Fear” as album cover, web content, merchandising, live appearances and social media in an interesting and unique take on branding.
